Question

Incorrect spacing when pasting my resume

Hello,

I have created my CV/resume on Apple Pages but I usually share it in PDF. The problem is that every time I manually copy/paste the text (even part of the text and not the whole page), the spacing is incorrect with some double spaces added or some sentences broken into two lines. Is there a way to fix this with Acrobat since it is my own file? Thank you!

For example, the screenshot will be copied and pasted as below:

• Facilitated media and public relations activities including
press releases and social media

content for the university’s NCAA Division I teams

Or do you mean other people will copy it (HR teams)? There is certainly a concern here. Big companies typically don't send your PDF on to the bosses, they copy the text and put it in a database. (Nobody sees your design or pics). To maximise the chance of this working, I'd recommend submitting a Word document.

I mean when websites use autofill with my resume... the problem with Word is that sometimes the design is not the same mine, and they wont be able to read it correctly

I suggest you copy from Pages instead. The closer you get to the original, the more accurate things are.

Thank you! But most of the times, when applying to jobs, I only keep my PDF file and delete the .pages one... 🙃
