Having an issue opening an index .pdx file via VPN on a remote computer. The computer has acrobat reader and the file was tested successfully on several other computers, however, when opened on the remote computer the error "File is not trusted" appears and doesn't work.
Are there restrictions on where the files can be opened or are there special settings to look for? Thanks!!

I saw this before, but since it's a .pdx file I do not see an option to change security settings. I double checked the PDFs and the setting was correct with the protected view off.

What operating system is run in the remote computer?

Does the remote computer has install the current version of Acrobat or is it an older version?

Is the pdx file correctly associated by the operating system ?

I don't think the problem is the VPN  when it comes to a pdx file but rather an SSL trusted certificate  in the client computer , a misconfiguration on that other network or perhaps lack of current updates in the remote computer.

Are you sure the message error says " File is not trusted"  or "Certificate not trusted"?

Just for testing purposes I would use the split tunneling feature of your VPN as a quick work around. This, however, would leave that particular connection unnecrypted since it is a direct connection from computer to computer through the Internet. But if it works then soemthing is related to the VPN or a Proxy misconfiguration.

If that does not work and the same problem persist, then I would think the problem is more related to enabling in the remote computer how to trust certain documents in a network.

See this link from MS Office support website, and use it as an example to see if you can make it work with the pdx file:
