Index page with adobe links is not being recognized by some computers using Adobe Reader.

I have compiled catalogs used in my industry and have created pdf indexes with links to different sections in the compilation.  Then sub-indexes to the individual catalogs.  I was showing my boss this compilation and for some reason his computer was not reading the links.  He is using Adobe Acrobat Reader.   I have Adobe Acrobat 9.0 that I have used to create these links.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
