Inserting image into pdf

I am having a very vexing problem that could be a showstopper for me. I am editing an art manuscript in pdf form, and I need to insert images. I use the "Insert Image" command, and it dutifully lets me choose the image, lets me move it around the page, but it simply won't let me insert it. It won't drop it. Perhaps I am missing something simple. I click. Control-click. Option-click. Double click. Nothing.

I am using Acrobat Pro DC on a Mac running El Capitan.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I did a search and found this thread which I think answers your issue:

Can't add image to PDF

Have you gone to Help > Check for Updates and downloaded the latest patch?

The steps should be:

1. Edit PDF >  Edit  > RM > Add image

2. Select image > Open

3. Position cursor > Click once

4. Resize if necessary

What is happening instead?

I have updated Acrobat; that was the first thing I tried. Still won't work... But the workaround in the thread above seems to work. Instead of using the tool, or the menu selections suggested, I simply control-click in the canvas and select "Add Image". This starts out the same way, but it finishes, letting me drop the image. Thanks for the quick and helpful reply!
