Installation failure - Acrobat

Hi, this is probably a common one...

 

Acrobat wont install on my windows PC via the CC app or direct desktop download. It just fails when I try and install it. It starts the process, installing..., extracting..., then it says failure to install. I'm a monthly CC subscriber with all packages. Everything else is installled ok. 

 Yesterday I used the Adobe cleaner tool on the whole system, removed every bit of Adobe software and reinstalled everyhting, Acrobat failed again, everything else installed. 

 

Anyone know what's going on and why this issue is happening? Is there a problem with compatibility of Acrobat, system issue, somthing I've not updated?

64GB RAM 

64-bit operating system Windows 10 pro version 22H2

    you may need to use the acrobat cleaner (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html) but before doing that:



    uninstall every cc app including preferences per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

    then uninstall the cc desktop app, again using the correct uninstaller per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html#sa_src=web-messaging

    clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

    check for, and if available, update your os

    if windows is your os, repair all ms visual c++ versions that can be repaired (use google if you don't know how to do this)

    if windows is your os update your ms visual c++, if it can be updated (use google if you don't know how to do this)

    restart your computer (don't skip this)

    reinstall the cc desktop app using the "alternative download links" at the bottom of the page at https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-app-download.html

    use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials

    NOTE: win 11 users that have trouble with the latest win 10 installer often have success with the older win 10 installer.

    Hi @kglad thanks for the response. Wow! This is quite the operation considering this is Acrobat. Do you know why I need to completely clean my system to install this quite basic bit of software?

     

    The link to the arobat cleaner doesn't take me anywhere - 404 page not found 

     

    What's the difference between using adobe cc desktop unistaller and simply unistalling from windows? Do they uninstall in different ways, or remove different levels of data?

     I would first check by uninstalling only Acrobat, if installed, by using the OS uninstall. 

     

    Try this link for AcroCleaner: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html

     

    If after that an install of Acrobat still fails, you will need to run the complete program as indicated. 

    Error code 136 is most likely caused by a corrupt registry, and therefore, it may still be necessary to uninstall the complete Adobe software and run the creative cloud cleaner tool.
