Question

Is first-letter keyboard navigation for PDF dropdown fields supported in Acrobat Reader for Android?

I am experiencing different behaviour with a standard PDF dropdown field when using Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows and Android.
The dropdown is configured as follows:
• Standard PDF choice/dropdown field
• Combo option enabled
• “Allow user to enter custom text” disabled
• No JavaScript
• Predefined values arranged alphabetically from “A - Alpha” to “Z - Zulu”
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
2. Open or focus the dropdown list.
3. Press the letter R using the keyboard.
4. Compare the result on Windows and Android.

Results:
• Windows laptop:Pressing R selects “R - Romeo” as expected.
• Android device:Pressing R does nothing.

The user must manually scroll through the dropdown list to find “R - Romeo”.
The same PDF and field configuration were used for both tests. The dropdown works correctly on Windows, which suggests that the PDF field itself is configured correctly.

Environment:
• Android device model: Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE 5G
• Android version: Version 16
• Acrobat Reader version: Version 26.8.3.49043

    Hi Bubbly_force5FBD,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble caused.

The mobile app has certain limitations compared to the desktop application. It does not function in the same way and does not support all the features available in the desktop version, which may affect your experience. We have reviewed the file and can scroll through the dropdown options; however, the keyboard does not appear to allow typing the first letter. We will follow up with the team for further confirmation on this issue.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi
