Question

Is it possible to change a bounding box in a PDF without cropping?

I have an image that is like a black box with a slanted line across the box thet extends beyond the black box. Is it possible to have a PDF where the bounding box (that other programs, like InDesign react to) that is just the black box without that image being cropped (so the entire line gets shown)? A bit like how paths around objects in InDesign work that are independent of the actual image. Example:

The bounding box (so what text would use to flow around) would then be the black box, but the entire line would be shown/printed. Is that possible in PDF?

Sorry, our answers got mixed up.
You can handle this in InDesign but Acrobat doesn't handle baseline offset (like TextEdit).

Answer in no, Acrobat does not manage text wrapping.

See my reply above. I am not looking for Acrobat text wrapping.

If I understand correctly, you want to wrap text around the box and ignore the red line? You can do this in InDesign, place the image of the box and line into InDesign, then add a new rectangle on top of the box (with a color of [None]), go to Window> Text wrap and apply a text wrap to the rectangle. You can group the box and line image with the new rectangle so they can be moved around.

Yes, I know how to do this in inDesign. I've done things like this:

But I want to have this behaviour outside of InDesign by setting the bounding box in the PDF itself.

I don't think this is possible, Acrobat can't re-flow text like InDesign or Illustrator.
