Is it possible to retain hyper links when converting Word 2016 to PDF?

Creating a pdf from multiple Word 2016 docx, windows environment.  Hyper links do not remain active.  Is it possible to retain the hyper links and if so how.  If not why?

You need to use the PDFMaker plugin, via the Acrobat panel in the ribbon of Word, or by creating the file directly from Acrobat, which will use that plugin, if it's compatible with your version of Word.

The plug in is there but not rendering in the ribbon which makes me think not compatible.  Playing around I did notice that when I save a Word 2016 doc as a pdf then try to create a pdf is acrobat it does not see the pdf I just created via word.  I guess the war between Adobe, MS and Apple is just hurting end users.  Maybe PDFComplete has this functionality.
