Question

Is it possible to select and edit multiple form fields to assign them to someone?

I'm using forms prepared by a different organization to set up contracts. There are a few different types that we routinely use, some are one page, but another is 8-10 pages.
I fill out a lot of the information, then send to other institutions for signatures.

I cannot figure out an easy way to select multiple fields and either freeze them or assign them to myself as prefill fields.

Looking for suggestions

Hi @Lori34595589dwoo,

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing in!

In case you are still looking for a solution, you might want to try the below steps:

Here’s how to pre-fill or assign fields to yourself in bulk:

  1. Open the PDF Form: Open your PDF in Adobe Acrobat.

  2. Prepare the Form:

    • Go to Tools > Prepare Form.
    • This will bring you into form-editing mode, where you can see all the form fields.
  3. Select Multiple Fields:

    • Shift-click or Ctrl-click (Windows) or Cmd-click (Mac) to select multiple form fields.
    • You can select all fields by pressing Ctrl + A (Windows) or Cmd + A (Mac), though that will select all fields in the document.
  4. Assign Values:

    • Once the fields are selected, you can assign default values to these fields or prefill them with the information you know (such as your name, date, or prefilled data).
    • Right-click the selected fields and choose Properties. Under the Options tab, you can set default text, select whether the field is read-only (to prevent changes), or prefill them with any required data.
  5. Lock Fields:

    • If you want to freeze or lock fields to prevent changes, check the Read Only box in the Properties window of the field (found under the General tab).
    • This will make it so that others cannot edit the fields once they’re filled in.
  6. Save the Form: After pre-filling and locking the necessary fields, save the PDF, and it will be ready to send for signature.

Hope this helps.
