is the toUnicode CMap editable?

I have a PDF that uses several fonts, and in one of them, entering a space renders a 'W' instead of an actual space character. Upon inspecting the font's internal data in the PDF, I found that the ToUnicode CMap has an incorrect mapping. Is it possible to edit the ToUnicode CMap?

Hi @sathish_8925,

Thank you for your question.

The ToUnicode CMap is an internal part of the PDF font structure and is not exposed for direct editing in Adobe Acrobat or any officially supported Adobe tools. It is generated automatically during PDF creation to map character codes to Unicode values for searchability and text extraction.

Not from within Acrobat.

As a programmer, is it possible to modify the ToUnicode CMap using PDF libraries such as PDFBox?
