is there a solution to this checkmark convolution

I have inadvertently placed some check marks on a form using form fill and sign but cannot delete them, I want to delete these stray checkmarks but can't get the selection arrow to recognize them. It's very frustrating to have a powerful tool that purposely ignores elements of your work product and drives you to beg for help when it should be transparent.
