Question

Is there a way to make form fillable fields automatically adjust the text size when the input exceeds the available space?

I created a PDF form with fillable fields and sent if off to my client. My client is on a Mac using the default PDF viewer "Preview". The issue is that the fillable fields I've created on this PDF do not automatically adjust the font size when the user's input exceeds the given space on that particular field. I know "Preview" is a third party program and my clients can download Acrobat Reader DC to avoid this problem but it's not fitting for me to require a client to download another program to get passed this issue unless I absolutely have to.

I tried adjusting the fields settings a bit to see if that helped. I went into each field's properties settings and check boxed the "rich text" box but that did not work unfortunately.

I know I can also shrink the default font size in each field that tends to have space issues but again, I'd prefer not to if possible.

Anyways, is there a way to fix this issue? Thanks in advance for any help!

Set the font size to Auto.

I tried that with no luck either. I right clicked on the fillable field, properties, and changed the font size under appearance to "auto" and the fields still won't auto adjust the text size when using Preview on a Mac. Any other suggestions?

Yes: Don't use Preview. It's a buggy application and will corrupt your PDF files.
