Question

Is there a way to open government tax PDFs in ChromeOS?

Hello, our government uses complex PDFs that they recommend only be opened in Mac/Windows desktop version of Adobe Acrobat. Sample file = https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/cra-arc/formspubs/pbg/t3010/t3010-fill-21e.pdf

On a Chromebook the PDF simply displays a one page document with an error saying it should be opened in Acrobat. Tried installing the Acrobat Chrome extension, Chrome app, disabling ChromeOS' built-in PDF readers, all to no avail :(.

Any suggestions on other Chrome extensions or apps / third-party solutions / workarounds that could allow the PDF to be viewed on ChromeOS? Thanks!

Mac/Windows desktop version of Adobe Acrobat (Reader, Pro and Standard) is the only software that can open XFA-PDF forms (made with Designer).

Try a forum for ChromeOS.

This file needs to be opened in Acrobat Reader on Windows or Mac only. The tax people chose a format not usable on mobile.
