is there any way to add in bulk document number referencing to all opened pdfs? Im currently adding each document number reference by going into each pdf and adding a watermark 'document 1', 'document 2', 'document 3' etc. Is there a way to automate these to the sequence of all opened pdfs?, so, first pdf would be automatically add 'document 1', second pdf would add 'doc 2' and so forth. It would be similar to bate numbering but instead of numbering each page in one document, it would add numbering to each opened pdf at the header etc.

This can be done using a script in an Action, if:

    - You restart the application (or click a button to reset the counter) after each run.

    - You don't care about the order in which the files are processed.

Thank you for advising. I have googled how to set this up and I've been lead to this page:

Applying actions and scripts to PDFs

However, Im not sure how to set up a document numbering script action with this information. None of the actions listed seem to be applicable in the article.

This page doesn't tell you how to write scripts. It just described Actions in general.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
