Issue with redacting

My office recently had an issue with a document that we had redacted in Adobe. When the redacted version of the document was forwarded to the recipient, that person was able to convert/open the document in WORD and view the unredacted document. Is there any work around in Adobe for this?

If that's the case then the redaction was not really a redaction but something else, probably just covering the text with a comment box or field. That is not real redaction and can be easily removed and overcome. ONLY use the Redact Text tool in Acrobat to remove information completely from a PDF file.
