Issues When Exporting JPEGS to Google Drive

At our organization, we primarily use Google Drive for file management. Due to this, each computer has the Google Drive app installed locally on the computer so that Drive is accessible through File Explorer. One of our users has recently started reporting an issue. He converts many PDFs to JPEG using Acrobat Pro. Typically, when he selects the convert option, he chooses to export it directly to a Google Drive folder. However, recently when he does this, the JPEG flickers in the folder for a moment before disappearing entirely. He can save it locally and then copy it to Google Drive, but this adds an inconvenient extra step. After I uninstalled and reinstalled both Google Drive and Acrobat, I noticed that I could get PDF files approximately 5 MB and less to export correctly, but anything larger had the same issue.

Is there a size limit that I am not aware of? Is there some resolution for this?

Hello @katie_8374!

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out.

This issue seems to be related to Google Drive’s local sync behavior, especially when dealing with:

  • Large files or rapid write operations (like conversions).

  • Temp files or files being saved in chunks, which Drive might misinterpret or fail to sync correctly during export.

Also, since the problem doesn’t occur when saving locally, it's likely not an Acrobat limitation, but rather a sync or file-handling issue between Acrobat and Drive.

Export Locally First
Save the JPEG to a local folder (e.g., Desktop), then move it to Google Drive. This avoids sync conflicts during the export process.

Use Acrobat’s “Save As” Instead of Export
Instead of using the Export tool, try using File > Save As > JPEG and manually select the Google Drive folder. This sometimes bypasses the issue.

Check Google Drive Sync Settings

Ensure the Drive client is up to date.

Pause syncing temporarily during export, then resume after the file is saved.

Reduce File Size
If possible, compress the PDF before exporting to JPEG. Files under 5 MB appear to export without issue.

If the issue still persists, please share the following details for further investigation:

  • Acrobat version
  • OS version
  • Google Drive client version
  • File size and format, along with a sample file
  • Whether the issue occurs with other file types
  • Logs from the affected machine. Download the log collector tool, run it, ensure all the log options are selected, and try to reproduce the issue. Close the log collector tool, it will generate the logs and a log ID. Share it with us.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
