Question

Layers on PDF patterns to print only one size which is on the layers function.

I buy digital PDF sewing patterns and they have multiple sizes.  The pattern company gives instructions for layers.  for example, size 10 is listed when you select layer function.  I have Adobe Pro.  I select size 10, but when the pattern prints on my printer, I still shows all pattern sizes.  There are a lot of complaints lately on various sewing web sites.  Originally, the pattern company instructs to use the free Adobe reader  only.  However, I cannot download this app, as it recognizes that I have Adobe Pro.  I am thinking about cancelling adobe pro and then only using adobe reader.  Any other who are sewing and having same problem?  Other writers think it is recent Adobe app changes that have changed.

You can download, install and use Reader if you like, just open the app and go to File> Open. When viewing a layered pdf, you should see an icon that looks like a stack of pancakes, click on that to see the layers, click on the eyeball to turn off all unwanted layers, then print. You can also right-click on a layer and set the layer property to "Never Prints" (Only Acrobat can change the layer properties).

Hello, I am trying to use Adobe Reader to print a sewing pattern from Pattern Emporium.  I am using the free version, which is recommended by Pattern Emporium.  However, I am not seeing the icon that looks like a stack of Pancakes on the side bar. This means there is no way to delete the Size layers that I don't need.  Can anyone help me figure out if the free version works or do I need to get a paid subscription. Or print in through some other means.

Some PDF patterns do not have layers. Be sure it does. If the pattern
does not have layers, I might not want it. Or, I prefer a paper pattern
that I can trace. The side of the PDF pattern will have several square
"Pancakes." When you click on the pancakes, it opens a side bar and lists
all the sizes. If that does not happen, maybe it is not layered. You can
email the pattern company from the "Contact Us" on their website. I have
found them to be responsive.

PPS. I use an adobe app which is a modest monthly fee.
