Question

Link Form Field to Another PDF Document

Is there a way to link a Field to a Field in another Acrobat Document?  In other words, while filling in a form, it would automatically populate a field in a separate document?

Thank you.  (Using DC Acrobat Pro)

It's possible but not trivial. I generally recommend that the target document be an attachment to the source document that gets opened when an update is necessary and then saved as a separate file when the target is complete. Is that something that your workflow would allow?

When you say "the target document be an attachment to the source", I don't know what you mean exactly.  Do you mean its a separate document altogether (separate file and separate file name and somehow linked as an attachment which i don't know how to do) or the target document is just added as additional pages to the source document and then later separated?  I am unable to do the second option for non-technical reasons.  Thank you

It's possible, but it's not that simple. For starters, what should trigger the update? Whenever the field's value is changed? When the second file is opened? When the first file is saved? Closed? Something else?

For starters, what should trigger the update?  In short, whichever is easier as i'm the one controlling the documents and how they are used.

For each client, I fill out the form and save down a separate set version.  Since I'm managing it (just trying to remove duplicating efforts) I can easily have them open or closed if that makes it easier and it can update the second document when i fill in or when saving it.
