Link form fields with other documents in portfolio

I'm not sure if I am phrasing my question correctly, but.......

I created a portfolio using Adobe Acrobat DC that contains 8 documents, most of which are fill-in forms.  There are several fields that are common to the documents, such as name, address, phone number, etc.  I would like to have the customer complete the first form and have DC automatically populate the same fields on the other documents.

How do I link them and do I do it before or after combining into a portfolio?

Thanks for your help!

There's no simple way of doing it. You could use a global variable, but the other files will have to be opened after each time the value is changed for the fields in them to update.
