Links and buttons fail to work or disappear from PDF when uploaded to then downloaded from website

I have created an interactive PDF in InDesign. It contains buttons with hover overs , links to external URLs and bookmarks. All these work perfectly when exported as interactive PDF and shared internally via email with colleagues. The problem occurs when it is uploaded to our website and made available for download. Some links disappear some fail to work. Sometimes its Safari thats the problem, sometimes its Chrome. It even happens when I publish online with Adobe InDesign and download from there.

What am I doing wrong here? Is it something I can remedy in InDesign or can I better prepare the PDF in Acrobat? How can I prevent this from happening? Please help 😞

Do not open the file in the browser and then save it. Download it directly and then open it using Adobe Reader, and it should work fine. The browser PDF plugins are very buggy, and will corrupt PDF files they open.
