Links in large file

If you have a large Adobe Acrobat PDF that has a lot of links that connects to an index, can you split up the file and then pull back together with the links in tact? The purpose of splitting is to get different people to tag the large file for 508 compliance. It takes a lot of time to save as a big file, even on your hard drive.

Sorry for the delayed response. I hope you already have found an answer to your question. 
If not, I tried to test this behavior at my end with an 8 page document. Sadly, this is not possible. Once you split the document and combine the fragments of it again, the links don't work again.
