Locating elements on a pdf and exporting to a data file

I am trying to find a way to have elements in a PDF identified in some intelligent / AI manner and the x-y coordinates and sizing information exported to some type of data file for survey setup information. The documents are originally created in InDesign. Does anyone have a starting place for researching this?
