"Lock document after signing" to default to ticked when applying Digital Signature

Hi Community,

I'm trying to make the "Lock document after signing" check box to be ticked by default, with the option to unselect it if required.

I found the following post, and the tutorial referenced in the marked as correct answer, however it doesn't seem to apply to my requirement.

https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/can-i-set-the-quot-lock-document-after-signing-quot-to-be-on-checked-by-default/m-p/10359733#M134390

I've also read about the use of Seed values to set or lock preferences, however I have't been able to find an example for setting the "Lock document after signing" option.

Correct answer Tariq Ahmad

Hi @Tariq Ahmad,

My scenario is for when I am signing a PDF, rather than adding an E-Signature field for someone else to sign. Please see my original attachment of a screen capture and the check box I am referring to.

Hi @Christian_Wood

I checked, and sadly, there is no option to always have the checkbox checked. It is not a controlled option or object.
So, every time you sign a document, you must check that checkbox before applying your signature.

Hi @Christian_Wood,

I hope you have found a solution to your requirement.
If not, help me with a sample file and your requirements, and I will take a look.

Hi @Tariq Ahmad,

Thank you for the follow up. I have not found a solution for this requirement.

What type of file would you like as a sample?

I suspect that this isn't file dependent, but rather a customised setting/preference for certificate-based signatures that is not accessible via the normal GUI, such as the Windows Registry.

Any help you can provide is appreciated.

Hey @Christian_Wood

Christian, I hope you have tried the "E-signature field" properties. Notably, a tab under the properties dialog is "Signed." There is a property to let the field drive some actions, and you can also write the script. Please check the screenshot attached. Let me know if you have questions:
