Long text in form field textbox is not visible in Adobe Acrobat until the field is focused

Question

When a form field textbox contains a long text value, the text is not visible in Adobe Acrobat Pro until the user clicks inside the field to focus it.

The same PDF displays the text correctly without requiring the field to be focused in Foxit PDF Reader, Chromium, and Firefox.

Steps to reproduce

Create a PDF containing a textbox form field.

Enter a long text value that exceeds the initially visible area of the field.

Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Observe the textbox without clicking inside it.
Click inside the textbox.

Actual result

The long text is not visible in the textbox until the field receives focus.

Expected result

The textbox should display the available portion of the field value immediately, without requiring the user to click or focus the field.

Additional information

The issue appears to be specific to Adobe Acrobat Pro, as the same PDF renders the textbox content correctly in Foxit PDF Reader, Chromium, and Firefox.

Experimenting a bit with your files I get the impression that Acrobat is not properly handling your text field with a single widget annotation which is not merged into the field.

I’ll try some more later.
