Looking for an easier way to rename files within a portfolio

Is there an easier way to rename files within a portfolio besides right-clicking, selecting Edit Value and then Name?  I was hoping to be able to tab from the Name field to the Description field and to any custom fields for each document within a portfolio.  Right-clicking, etc. is time consuming and clunky.

Thank you!

Has this been resolved yet? I need to do the same thing and it appears impossible.

Adobe needs to fix this issue.  It's WAY too much work to rename all of the individual PDF files that you will be importing into a portfolio.  There should be a very simple way to rename ANY PDF file within a portfolio once it's imported.  This is the whole point of a PDF/document management system.  It's insane that this does not have this BASIC feature.  Imagine importing hurndresd of PDF invocies into Adobe.  Then you want to edit them and move the specific multi page PDF's in a specific order and then rename them to what they relate to.  It's impossible.  There is no way you would first rename them and organize them on your computer PRIOR to importhing them.    This is really BAD!    Adobe neeeds to make it so you can create a portfolio and then click on ANY individula PDF within the porfolio and rename it.  You may want to change them by project name, numbered, dates of invoices, etc.  However, you now have to do this prior to importing them.

Ran into this issue today and wish Adobe would fix this already. Impossible to rename/edit documents within the portfolio. Whats the point of having Adobe Pro accounts anymore?

Go to "Home"

Go to "Your files"

Select/check the portfolio you want to rename.

The menu on the right has a "rename" option.

Took me a long time to figure it out. Not very intuitive, Adobe...

This will not change the name of documents within a portfolio.

With the new Acrobat view for DC, I no longer have to option to "Edit Value". How do I update the file name and description for files within a portfolio?

Hi Natalie28468002te8b,

Thank you for reaching out and reporting this.

We are sorry for the trouble caused. We will get this checked with the team.

We acknowledge that the new Acrobat represents a notable change. However, we hope that as you get familiar with the new interface, you will be able to be more productive & get more out of Acrobat.

As we made these changes in the interface, we have tried to ensure all tools & features that are currently supported retain their familiar functionalities and workflows as they did in the previous version. We are committed to addressing any gaps or issues reported by users related to any break in current workflows in all our past & upcoming releases. In case any of your current workflows are not functioning as expected, do share them with us on this thread, and we will address them with the highest priority.

In case any of your critical workflows are impacted, you have the option to switch back to the old UI from the “Menu” on the top left corner of Windows and View Menu on MacOS.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hi @Angie298081595wmw

Thanks for reaching out.

This is the actual way of renaming the file name within a PDF portfolio. I understand your concern that it might take a little more time. But sadly, there's no alternate way or shortcut to do this.

Even if there's a way by using JavaSrcipt, we don't have expertise in writing that.

Thanks,
