Acrobat can't seem to find the printer software when in fact it is installed.

Can you provide some more details? Perhaps a screenshot of what happens when you try to print?

I assume you're actually trying to print a physical piece of paper; if you're trying to create a PDF file, you may want to look for a PDF button at the lower left hand corner of your print dialog.

I am trying to print to paper.  There is no useful screenshot because basically the printer dialog box opens, there is a message saying the printer software is missing, and then the printer dialog box closes.  So the screenshot would just show the document I was trying to print.  The printers I have tried all work with other applications and the printer software is installed.

I've not seen that one myself, but I have experienced many bizarre printing symptoms from Acrobat over the years, as a result of damaged installations arising from software installs. For instance, for about five years I need to reinstall Acrobat after every time my printer updated its accompanying software (not the driver, but the silly app used to scan or to remind you that you-need-to-buy-more-toner).

In your shoes, I'd start in Acrobat; I'd shut everything else down, then open Acrobat, and go to Help -> Repair Installation. That's what I'd try first, at any rate.
