MacOS 12.3 Beta Install Failure

package_script_service[51023]: ./postinstall: /tmp/PKInstallSandbox.6zJJQe/Scripts/com.adobe.acrobat.DC.viewer.app.pkg.MUI.iBRrhN/postinstall: /private/tmp/PKInstallSandbox.6zJJQe/Scripts/com.adobe.acrobat.DC.viewer.app.pkg.MUI.iBRrhN/Tools/mergeplists.py: /usr/bin/python: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

With the new version of MacOS 12.3 entering Beta, the Apple provided python 2.7 is removed from the system for security reasons and breaks the install of Acrobat when trying to run the post installation scripts. I am at a total standstill on how to work around this as the symlinks can't be changed without violating Apple system integrity protection and the package can not be alterted because the package is cryptographically signed by Adobe.

Reverting the system to MacOS 12.2 is not an option.

The public version of python2 can not be installed without violating Apple system integretity protection.

The version of python being called by the installer was officially end-of-life over 25 months ago, so this should not be a big surprise.

Thanks for reporting but unless Adobe recommends changing to a beta product, you should not do it, if you not want to break your system integrity. Doing beta testing is normally done on spare computers, where failure is not a catastrophe. You will need to wait either for Adobe to prepare their software for this OS, what they will do, or you will need to wait for Apple to provide alternate solutions. Or you can revert to the latest official OS.

btw: even when an OS is out of beta, you should wait for early reports on the compatibility of your critical software before scheduling the upgrade. Except if there is a urgent need, I wait a month or two before adopting an OS change on my production machines.

You will not get any support for Beta OS versions. If the issue happens when an official version is released and a compatible version of Acrobat is released for it, then you should report it to Adobe. I'm sure they're aware of the issue and will try to solve it before that happens.

As a general rule, you should not update to a beta version on a critical system.

Adobe don't support beta operating systems.
