Question

McAfee was installed without a clear option presented to avoid the instal

I recently installed Adobe Reader and the install did not clearly communicate that the install was going to install McAfee.  Then when McAfee began impacting my system I was forced to download a unique uninstall program because Windows 11 uninstall process would not uninstall McAfee.  In the world of computers, there is a name for this experience - MALWARE!  I filed a report with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.  I hope you have a good explanation for your actions regarding this situation.  The time I wasted on researching this issue impacted my productivity and I am sure many others have had similar experiences to mine.

Hi @got2golfster

We understand how frustrating this can be. Your feedback is valuable to us. However, the McAfee installation you are referring to above is optional. While installing Acrobat Reader, at step-1, there's a dialog box to select or deselect. You can proceed with or without McAfee installation.

When you proceed to download the setup from this page https://get.adobe.com/reader/

The next screen will look like this, where Add-Ons are optional.

If you don't get this screen, then you must clear the cache and cookies of the web browser or probably try with another one.

Thanks,

Akanchha
