Microsoft Word 2016 & Adobe Acrobat Pro IX, macOS Sierra 10.12.5

After searching the forums I can't seem to find this exact issue - I cannot create a pdf in adobe acrobat pro IX using .docx files from Microsoft word 2016. The only work around I have found is saving my .docx-s as .pdf and then combining; however this will add HOURS to my work load. Has anyone had this problem or know of a solution?
