Missing PDFMaker files

Background: When I am in a native MS program such as Word or PowerPoint, I can choose "save as a PDF." And a PDF will be produced.  However, when I am in Adobe Pro XI, and choose create PDF from file (using the same word document), I receive the Missing PDFMaker files error message followed by "Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?  Secondly, if I chose a Word document on my desktop, right-click and chose convert to Adobe PDF I receive the missing PDFMaker error message - no PDF will be produced.  Thirdly, I can produce a PDF from a .text, .jpeg or a visio file.

System - Windows 7 Enterprise, Office 2010, Adobe Acrobat Pro X1, 64-bit operating system

Q1:  Why am I receiving this error?

Q2:  How can this error be fixed?
