Modify OCR content - not working.

Hi all,

I am trying to scan some handwritten journals and make them searchable documents (i.e. if I am in windows explorer, I could use the search box in the top right and it would find words in documents - It does this for word documents or accurate OCR documents)

Obviously, as these journals are handwritten the automatic character recognition gets almost nothing correct. I read that you could view and change the  OCR text with an included tool called 'preflight'. When I tried this tool, it gave me a report but on closing the tools window there was only one layer in the layers tab.

Would somebody be kind enough to help me?

    Hi Kamals,

    Sorry but Acrobat's OCR cannot do handwriting. The Preflight tool is to help find errors in documents before they go off to a printing establishment and has nothing to do with giving you the ability to OCR handwritten text.

    I did a quick Google search for OCR capabilities for handwritten text and came up with these:

    I am neither endorsing nor recommending either of these, they are just two things that might help you.

    Good luck but Acrobat is not what you need to do what you want to do. Very sorry.
