I’m having issues with Adobe Acrobat. I am also on a Mac Air. I’m getting the spinning pinwheel of death when I try to start Adobe Acrobat or open a PDF.  Tried reinstalling and it still happens. I also updated my OS to Golden Gate 27.0 yesterday to see if that would resolve the problem.  No avail. Stuck for two days now.

Since the icon bounces and then stops without any error, it sounds like Acrobat is crashing during startup. I’d first check Activity Monitor for any Acrobat, AcroCEF, or RdrCEF processes and force quit them, then try launching Acrobat again. Adobe specifically recommends checking those background processes on macOS.

If that doesn’t help, try restarting the Mac and make sure Acrobat is updated. If it still won’t open, testing from a new macOS user account can help determine if the problem is with the current user profile/preferences. If the issue started after a recent Acrobat update, Adobe also recommends a clean reinstall using the Acrobat Cleaner Tool as a later step.

Yep - did all these things. No luck. I couldn’t get the Acrobat Cleaner Tool to work.

    Hi @norinac28393894

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that the issue still exists.
Would you mind sharing the complete version of the Acrobat Application you are using (not just 26.01) go to Help > About Acrobat and try updating the application to the latest version  26.002.21931 Out of cycle update, Sep 17, 2026  Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

If it still doesn’t work, please share a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs, along with the sample test file, so we can check it at our end and isolate the issue for the fix.

    Hello @natural_Zephyr4fab

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. Sorry for the trouble, that's frustrating when the app won't even launch.

A few details would help us dig into this:

Which exact Acrobat version is installed (Applications > Acrobat > right-click > Get Info, or Help > About if it ever opens)?

Which macOS version are you running?

Did this start after a recent Acrobat update, a macOS update, or after any crash or forced shutdown, or has it just never worked right?

Have you already tried a reinstall, or is that something you haven't gotten to yet?

We're here to help, just need a bit more info to track this down.

    Regards,
    Amal

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out, and we're sorry to hear this hit you out of nowhere right when you need Acrobat to proofread your work. Being unable to open the app is a hard stop in a design workflow, and we want to get you back up and running as soon as possible.

Since you've already shared that you're on Acrobat 26.1 and macOS 26 on your iMac, we can move directly to troubleshooting for that combination and won't need you to repeat those details.

This has been affecting some Acrobat users on macOS following a recent update, and corrupted or outdated installation files are usually the cause. Here's how to resolve it:

    First, a quick check:

    • Make sure both Acrobat and macOS are fully updated to their latest versions.

    • Restart your iMac, then try launching Acrobat again.

    If it still won't open:

    • Download and run the Acrobat Cleaner Tool to remove the current Acrobat installation.

    • Restart your Mac once the cleanup finishes.

    • Download and install the latest Acrobat installer for macOS, then launch it and confirm it opens normally.

You can do this by signing in at https://adobe.ly/4riOeSB, then, under Public profile, selecting Change next to your Adobe screen name (the one that appears on your community posts).

If the troubleshooting steps above don't get Acrobat opening again, let us know whether this started right after any update (Acrobat, macOS, or otherwise) and whether you've already tried reinstalling, so we can dig further.

    Thanks,
    ^BS
