So, first of all, I am using a Mac OS version 10.12.2.I have

I have an Epson WF-3640 dual tray printer (Driver version 9.17), tray 1 is loaded with letter size paper and tray 2 is loaded with legal size paper, set it at the printer too so the printer knows, I have selected paper source to Auto.  I have also checked "Choose paper source by PDF page size" and selected paper source to Auto.  So now this is what I am experiencing, if I print the package as a whole, whatever paper size that the first page is, the remaining printing will be in that paper size, but if I print it page by page individually, the printer will recognize and will print legal size on the legal size page, letter size on a letter size page.

So I have a friend that has a printer and it printed just fine. The only setting mine is different than his is the "Paper Size" inside the "Page Setup", he has an option for selecting auto, I have to pick either letter size or legal size.  So my question is, would it be the printer's issue or Adobe's issue?

If so, what printer should I pick?

I would suggest you to work on following points in order to fix your issue:

  • Update your adobe software.
  • Update your printer drivers.
  • Use customize size settings instead of default settings.
  • Also note that when the dimensions of your document exceed the size of the largest paper that your printer can handle, it prints as much as it can and stops somewhere near the edge of the sheet. If you really need to print the entire document area, you may be able to tile it to multiple sheets, producing overlapping output of segments of its width and height.

After doing all above steps if still printer is not printing desired size then please check Epson WF-3640 Manual for troubleshooting section.
