Mysterious shutdown of Acrobat about 20sec after loading a pdf

This happens every time I try to load a pdf on my main  home computer, but on another home laptop Acrobat works fine.

@Brad Amos A sudden shutdown like you describe is more commonly caused by a corrupted install, conflicting plug‑ins or extensions, a damaged PDF, an out‑of‑date app or graphics driver, or a software conflict on that particular PC. Please try signing out of Acrobat and back in, updating Acrobat and your OS, running Acrobat’s Repair Installation (Help > Repair Installation), disabling any third‑party plug‑ins, and reinstalling if the problem persists
