New Adobe Acrobat Extension Misreading Firefox Version

Adobe just installed the Adobe Acrobat extension for Firefox, which I was thrilled to see.  When I clicked on the button, the error message informed me that ““This version of Firefox does not support Adobe Acrobat. Minimum version is: 51.” I have FF 51.0.1 (64 bit).

What’s up?

I have W10, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

Extension uses UserAgent strings to fetch browser’s version and compares that against min_version_supported to check if browser version is supported by extension.

  1. e.g UA string :Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.13; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0

To start:

Please share your user agent string :

To get that, launch FF and open about:support

From there, fetch the User Agent string from among various the key value pairs.

Another thing that you can try is refresh firefox:

For that, again launch FF and open "about:support" page, on this page you will see , Refresh Firefox option.

After refreshing , you will get the notification about the extension and enable it. Please check if this helps.

The version is listed here at 56 but the user agent reports "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:47.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/47.0".  How do I change this to reflect the correct one?  Better, why do they not agree?

Hi WSC,

As you get the error message when you try to use the Adobe Acrobat Extension on Firefox, please try to repair the Firefox installation.

You can repair the installation from the Control Panel > Program and Features.

Once you are done with the repair, restart your machine and then check.

Let us know if you still experience the issue.

Regards,

Meenakshi

There is no way to repair the FF installation.  The "Programs and Features" will only allow you to uninstall FF.  No thanks.  That's way too much work.   I did take the opportunity to upgrade from FF 51.01 to FF 56.0 so I'm well within the requirements of your extension.  The bogus error message persists.

BTW: "Programs and Features" notes that the version of FF is 56.  Where is your extension getting its misinformation on version?
