New Adobe "Encounters a problem"

This error has came up for one of my users. It happens immediately after launching the application. I have tried all of the following.

  • Uninstall/reinstall
  • Check read/write permissions on the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\WebResources folder.
  • Created an exception to our Antivirus for C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat\
  • Run the repair option on the install

None of these worked. The only thing that works, which is not a fix, is just to switch back to the old UI or use the web version. I see that this has been an ongoing issue for others for quite some time. Hopefully someone will have found an actual fix by now, or are you just screwed once this happens? And no, just clicking "dont show again" is not a legitamate option. This error actually stops you from using portions of the application. 

 

I will also do some more testing to see if the error carries over by the user that was originally affected, or a piece that is written on the machine that gets stuck.
