New unsigned PE DLL files in Adobe Acrobat

Our organisation implements application allowlisting requiring all application files to be digitally signed.

The latest updates to Adobe Acrobat include two new unsigned files:

MCIMPP.mpp
WindowsMedia.mpp

Although the files have .mpp extensions, they are DLL files. We have seen this in the past with Adobe plug-ins and have see this be rectified.

We request that Adobe ensure these files are digitally signed going forward in future releases.

Correct answer Amal.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out and bringing this to our attention.

We understand that your organization implements application allow listing and requires all application files to be digitally signed.

We acknowledge that the latest Adobe Acrobat updates include two unsigned files:

MCIMPP.mpp (Adobe Acrobat MCI Multimedia Plug-in)
WindowsMedia.mpp (Adobe Acrobat Windows Media Multimedia Plug-in)

Although these files have an .mpp extension, they function as DLLs, and we recognize the importance of ensuring all necessary components are signed for compliance with security policies. We have escalated this matter to our engineering team for review and will work towards ensuring these files are digitally signed in future releases.

Thanks for your understanding.
