No Citations in PDF Spaces on the Desktop App (PC and Mac)

Hello Fellow Acrobats!

I've been really liking the PDF Spaces feature in Acrobat Pro recently and I really like the AI Assistant. One of my favourite features of the AI Assistant is the citations feature, so I can cross-reference the information it is providing me instantly. I really like PDF Spaces as I can look at multiple files at once and get a broad overview of many sources at once and compare and contrast.

However, with the most recent update, I seem to have lost this beloved citation feature in the desktop app. This is occuring on both my Mac and my PC. The web version and the mobile version do not seem to be affected (yet).

Show citations is definitely turned on, this has been checked. There are no restrictions on the files, as they are showing perfectly well in the web version.

Is anyone else experiencing this? And Adobe can we please have this wonderful feature back? This puts you head and shoulders above all the other AI services out there. It would really be a shame to lose this feature!

Thanks,

Erin

@ErinJan it does sound like a bug, but I have a feeling it's not synced properly but, if the online version works, would this mess up your desktop version then? Eeck!

you can try this... Look to see if the new Acrobat is on or off. Because you are using the AI Assistant this should be 'on'. Now, just sign out of the app. Go to the profile icon in the top right > Sign Out.  Close Acrobat completely. I would clear the history, cache and cookies of your web browsers (if you use more than one!—I use three different ones) (check for 'all time' to clear the old cache junk). Give it a few minutes if you haven't done this for ages!

I would also remove the Acrobat Web cache on the desktop.  Acrobat Desktop uses a built-in web browser engine to display PDF Spaces. If that cache is corrupted during an update, citations (which are essentially web-overlays) fail to load.

  • PC: Close Acrobat. Go to C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\WebResources and delete the contents.

  • Mac: Close Acrobat. Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/DC/WebResources and delete the contents.

Once that is all done, I would restart your computer as well. Now, sign back in, and hopefully PDF Spaces has a chance to sync back up properly!

Hi there,

Unfortunately, this didn't fix the issue. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling, this didn't fix it either. I do note that PDF Spaces are now a "trial" for many people and that these have moved under Studio, but with my place, this shouldn't be the case (I don't recall this being the case last year, but it might have been. Last year was a bit of a blur). There have also been issue caused with me changing email addresses for my account which had been misinterpreted to me no longer being a student (not the case, I will be studying for the next 4 years at least), so I don't know if that caused the issue as well...? That has been resolved but this issue remains. I have reported it as a bug to Adobe.

Thank you for your help.
