You're right that this is a different feature from the electronic signature option; digital certificate signing lives under a separate tool in Acrobat Pro.

Here's where to find it:

1. Open the PDF you want to sign.

2. Go to All tools (or All tools > View more, depending on your Acrobat version) and select Use a certificate.

3. Go to Use a Certificate and Select Digitally sign

4. Click and drag to draw the signature box where you want it to appear on the page.

5. In the Sign with a Digital ID dialog, select the digital ID linked to your certificate, then select Continue.

6. Enter your digital ID password and select Sign, then choose where to save the signed file.
