No longer converting or combining

I used to be able to convert any type of doc (word, excel, office message) to a pdf and now I cannot. I also am not able to combine documents. I cant figure out why.

    Hi, @Alanna33144983gunv, is there any chance you are using Acrobat Reader and not Acrobat Pro? (FWIW, you will not be the first or last to have done so.)

     

    Meanwhile, what IS happening? Does nothing happen? Is there a beep? What happens?

     

    Also, what process do you use to do this? What menus do you go to, etc.?

    How can I tell what version I have? It used to work and then today it stopped. When I try to convert another document to a pdf, it becones a notes document and the content is all mixed up. When I try to combine multiple documents I can get to the screen where you can rearrange them and then hit the combine button. Then nothing happens. That window simply closes.
