Question

No save the content adobe Acrobat

When I tried to edit a PDF with underlines and the automatic save function failed to save correctly, I lost all my progress. Honestly, this is the worst Adobe software. I much prefer software that isn't up-to-date but still works perfectly for what I need, rather than software with all the latest features.

I can only recommend that others not use it because there's no guarantee that the main functions will work properly.

In the Windows application, with autosave enabled (Windows 10) and in the latest version of Adobe Acrobat, with the highlighting function enabled when opening the PDF, the issue persists. Furthermore, I couldn't close it because it kept saying it was saving to the cloud. You can't implement an autosave that ultimately doesn't save the document. I mean, you hear what they're saying: "We added an autosave that only makes a copy, it doesn't actually save." Excuse my bluntness, but it's absurd. It makes no sense to include a feature that doesn't do what its name suggests. Besides, why would I even activate autosave if it doesn't actually save the document? Please make the core functionalities coherent, well-designed, and thoroughly tested. Then add aesthetic or non-essential features. You're PDF management software, and you're not even doing basic things like autosave properly. If you're not going to do it, don't include it. And now, with AI, you could review and test the existing functionalities when you add new ones.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well.

The Autosave feature guards against losing your work in case of a power failure by incrementally, and at regular intervals, saving file changes to a specified location. The original file is not modified. Instead, Acrobat creates an autosave file of changes, which includes all the changes you made to the open file since the last automatic save. The amount of new information that the autosave file contains depends on how frequently Acrobat saves the autosave file. If you set the autosave interval to 15 minutes, you could lose the last 14 minutes of your work if a problem occurs. Frequent automatic saving prevents loss of data, and is especially useful if you make extensive changes to a document, such as by adding comments.

You can apply autosave changes to the original files when you restart Acrobat. When you close, save manually, or revert to the last-saved version of a file, the autosave file is deleted.

Hello @Estoy para ayudarlos,

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. We're sorry for the trouble you had.

Could you please share more details about the issue? Are you on a Mac or Windows machine, and what is the version? Were the underlines added using Edit PDF, Comment/Annotate, or Fill & Sign tools?

Please enable the Automatically save document changes to temporary file every X minutes from the Menu > Preferences > Documents (Windows) or Acrobat > Preferences > Documents (macOS). Please note that Acrobat’s autosave creates a temporary backup file; it does not save directly to your PDF until you do a regular Save. When you close the PDF normally or manually save, Acrobat deletes the autosave backup.

What happens when you open the PDF file and go to Edit, or follow the same workflow? When you add underlines or other edits in Acrobat, always click the Save icon (or go to Menu > Save) periodically. This makes sure your changes (whether they’re comment annotations like underlines/highlights or actual content edits via Edit PDF) are immediately written to the file.

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 26.001.21662. Planned update, Jun 09, 2026. Check for any pending updates by navigating to Menu > Help> Check for Updates. Install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and try again.

Let us know how it goes, and share your findings.

Regards,

Anand Sri.
