Not able to highlight in Adobe Acrobat - is this a Pro version only feature?

Hi - I am used to use Adobe Pro and I am now using Adobe Acrobat at my new job. I can't seem to get the highlight fuction to work for me, even when I OCR the pages. Is there something I am missing?

Hi again - thanks @gary_sc  & @try67  for reaching out to help! The highlighting tool is now miraculously working for me on the same pdf. I am not sure what happened. Maybe it just needed a restart or weekend to recharge!

No. Highlighting is available in all versions of Acrobat, including the free Reader, so there must be something else at hand there.

What exactly happens when you try to use the Highlighter tool?
