Question

Not able to scan multiple pages using Acrobat DC

I recently updated my MacPro to Catalina 10.15.1 and since then I can't create multi-page PDF's. I first went to Canon to see about updating Drivers for my MX330. NO JOY! I then went to Apple to see if there were any printer updates there. Again, NO JOY! My issue is that I make all the proper settings in the Adobe scanning menues for appending and notification of "second page" before hitting "Scan". The first page scans properly but when I try to scan the next page, I get the following error message: "The scanner is not available while in use by another application or user" 249.0.0.  Anyone else having this problem and a solution??

Hi there,

We are sorry for the trouble. As described above , you are getting the error ' The scanner is not available while in use by another application or user" 249.0.0'

Please try the troubleshooting steps provided in the help article here (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-scanner-issues-acrobat.html) and see if that works.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards

Amal

NO JOY folks. I printed off the “Troubleshoot scanner issues…” from the web address you suggested. In reading through it, it seems that the majority of the suggestions apply to a PC using various Windows versions. I tried the few that reference or seem to reference my Apple computer (MacBook Pro) with no success. My questions to y’all are these…could it be that my version of Acrobat DC is not compatible with the current Mac OS “Catalina 10.15.1? DC worked just fine until I updated my OS. Is this just a coincidence? The error message is telling me the second page issue is because the scanner is being used by another app or user. There is no other user involved, that I know for sure. How can I determine what, if any, other app is using the scanner? Is DC thinking there is a “new user” trying to scan page 2”?

Hi there,

Adobe Acrobat / Reader DC is compatible with Mac OS Catalina. Make sure you are using the latest version 19.21.20056 . Go to help > Check for updates.

For more information please use the help article https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html

Also, make sure the scanner drivers and firmwares are upto date.

Let us know how it goes
