OCR leaves blank pages after running text recognition

When I run OCR text recognition in a PDF in Adobe Pro, it scans the first page and then leaves the remaining document blank. It's doing this on ALL my documents now, regardless of what they are.

Hello Nathan!

I hope you are doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble.

Could you please confirm the current version of the Acrobat desktop app installed? Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.2043x Optional update, Mar 19, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and check. For more information, see this: https://adobe.ly/4j4BnhN

Is it happening with all the PDFs, or visit specific to one PDF? Could you share the file with us for testing? Try the suggestion from this article and let us know if that works for you: https://adobe.ly/41Ke6uq

Adjust Scan Resolution:

  • Low-resolution scans (e.g., 72 dpi) can hinder OCR accuracy and result in blank pages. For optimal OCR performance, ensure your documents are scanned at a minimum of 300 dpi.

Adjust OCR Settings:

  • Open your PDF in Adobe Acrobat.
  • Go to Tools > Enhance Scans > Recognize Text.
  • In the OCR settings, try different options such as Searchable ImageSearchable Image (Exact), or Editable Text & Images. See this article for more information: How to edit scanned PDFs in Adobe Acrobat

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Can confirm (almost) the same issue.

I can sometimes get two pages before things go blank, but other than that, it's as the OP says.

Incredibly frustrating bug.

PS: same result with Acrobat online version, so it's not a system problem.
