OCR scanning Hebrew using Acrobat Pro 2017

We are trying to scan inaccessible PDF documents that are in Hebrew using Acrobat Pro 2017 on a Windows computer. We have selected the language and set the right to left orientation (https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/asian-cyrillic-right-to-left.html). It appears to scan the Hebrew, but when we try to have the text read aloud, it is not accurate. FYI - to read the text aloud, we are using the built-in text to speech on a Mac. This text to speech function works when reading Hebrew in Google Docs and via Acrobat Reader with accessible PDFs. Just is not reading the OCRed PDFs. Think we are missing something in the OCR process.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much,

Lynda

I am seeking a way to OCR very old handwritten letters that seem to be in a Hebrew dialect. I have photos in a PDF file.  Does anyone know a process for doing that? Perhaps the OCR Text could be used to detect the language and translate it.  I would welcome any suggestions. We have not thus far been able to find a Rabbi willing or able to take a look at the letters.
