Question

old Acrobat Distiller version in Acrobat Pro 2020

We have Acrobat 2020 Pro installed on some of our machines, MS Defender has flagged acrodist.exe as having several security vulnerabilities, checking the file details shows the version is 20.1.30002 - I downloaded and installed the latest version of Acrobat Pro and checked the acrodist.exe file and it was the same version. We also have a few CC versions of Acrobat DC installed which has an acrodist.exe with a version of 24.1.2064. Is Distiller still being patched in Acrobat Pro?

Same here.

Microsoft Vulnerability was saying we were hunky-dory on Acrobat until about a week ago, when it decided it found versions 3020.1.30020.421060 with 310 vulnerabilities and 2020.1.2002.282653 with 365 vulnerabilities. Like Nick, it identifies acrodist.exe and acrobat_sl.exe as the reasons it believes the old versions are there. They date back to August of 2021.

It seems likely to me that this is Microsoft misidentifying the version of Acrobat on relevant computers, as it is finding three different versions of Acrobat when only one exists. Hence, I'm not expecting Adobe to comment, but maybe somebody there can ping a Microsoft contact about getting this resolved.

In Defender I did use the "Report Inaccuracy" button to notify MS of this.  I agree with Brad that Defender is definitely misidentifying the version of Acrobat installed, but given the age of the files Defender is flagging, it does seem plausible that at least some of the 300 odd some CVEs could be true positives.

Our Information Security manager is trying his luck with MS support, he said there have been some changes to Defender back in May which caused him some issues, possibly more of that happening. I'll update if I get anywhere

Seeing the same things here. Microsoft Defender Vunarbility assesment has gone of the charts with this. I very much need to determine the actual risk we are being exposed to.  I would sure like ADOBE to chime in here.

Seeing the same thing here.  Defender is also flagging our acrobat_sl.exe files which are version 20.1.30020.27844 in our Acrobat 2020 Pro installs.  Acrobat itself is reporting version 20.005.30636.10636 and is not finding any updates to apply.
