Old S/N won't work on new laptop.

I bought a copy of Acrobat X Pro many years ago.  I would like to move that program to a new laptop and during installation it indicates that the old S/N is not valid.  Any suggestions/solutions?

Did you purchase it directly from Adobe? If so, it should be valid. If not, did you register it with them?

What is the exact text of the error message?

Be aware that Acrobat X is a very old and unsupported version, though. It's not compatible with any current OS, so problems are to be expected. And if you're on a Mac it won't run at all on a new machine.
