Question

only printing greyscale

Adobe reader V2023.008.20470 64 bit

For the last week when printing PDF files from Adobe Reader it's only printing in greyscale. I checked all the possible culprits and the greyscale box is unchecked. I checked properties and it shows greyscale. I can turnoff greyscale in properties and it will print color, however, as soon as I try to print another document it defaults back to greyscale. I have no such problem if I'm using either Chrome or Firefox default browser printer. I ran the repair installation feature with no effect. I didn't try doing an uninstall and reinstall software yet. I contacted HP and it's not a printer software issue-everything is up-to-date. Has to be a adobe software issue. Any suggestions?

Hi @arejfour

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

As you have tried most of the troubleshooting and contacted the printer manufacturer and still getting the issue, please go through the help page (https://adobe.ly/3ur8UPc) and see if that works.

If it still doesn't work please collect print logs as described here (https://adobe.ly/49eYh0M) and share with us for further investigation.

Regards

Amal

I think I may have solved the problem. How the problem began I suspect was caused by a recent Windows update or a recent Adobe Reader update. What happen was the printing option was changed to grayscale. Here's how I, hopefully, resolved the issue:

Windows/settings/printer services/printer/printer preferences/grayscale to off
