Question

Open/Close, window, functions are buggy

I’m using AA Pro desktop on a PC  Newest (2026.001.21431 Acrobat Pro) on an xps 15 64gb, 2tb mem. I’m using the current: Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview (eval copy Build 26300.8276-ge_prerelease_im.260410-1655).

I have recently uninstalled AA, cleaned my computer (AA tool), reinstalled, rebooted, and tried a number of things to resolve these before asking for help. AI is disabled, I’ve tried disabling and enabling the new AA. And other misc related settings with no luck. Some specific quirks include:

  1. How do we get rid of the AA splash screen that persists :15-20 seconds after the document has been opened? I tried registry change, disabling AI elements, disabling AA messaging… all with no effect.
  2. When opening AA, the window opens in whatever size it wants, then when the document actually opens, it opens either full-screen, mid-size (vertical rectangle), or small (small rectangle). I’ve tried closing with CTL+ close with no luck. It truly seems to have a mind of its own.
  3. It takes a significant amount of time to open PDFs, 2-3x longer than for the last decade (beginning about 4-6 months ago).

I would appreciate help just for these things because they are disrupting my work so much so that I am adjusting, trying different solutions and settings, and growling multiple times a day (literally at least a couple times an hour).

Sure, I can just suck it up and deal with it, but I genuinely think something else here is going on. Either AA has reached it’s bloat-high point, the AI integration screwed things up (even when disabled), or there are settings I cannot get in the right sequence.

In all seriousness, can we install AA Pro (2024) without updates or support? That was relatively consistent and unremarkable. I really appreciate unremarkable now. Thanks!

    Hello @Jerry3088215125bf

I hope you are doing well, and thank you for reaching out. We’re sorry for the trouble you had with the app.

Also, thanks for the detailed breakdown of your setup and the troubleshooting you’ve already done.

About the persistent Acrobat splash screen:

As of now, there is no option to disable or shorten the Acrobat splash screen. You can use the Adobe Wish form to file a feature request and provide feedback to the product team directly.

Inconsistent window size when opening PDFs:

On Windows Insider Preview builds, inconsistent window sizing has been widely observed and is not fully controllable from Acrobat.

Acrobat attempts to restore the last window state, but Adobe notes this can be overridden by:

    • DPI scaling
    • Display configuration
    • Windows preview / Insider builds

Also, some PDFs may have an embedded initial view size set by the document author, which overrides Acrobat's remembered window state — this is expected behaviour for those specific files. You can check this under File > Properties > Initial View tab. If the document has a forced window size set, you'd need Acrobat Pro to modify it.

    Slower PDF opening performance:

Test with Protected Mode disabled (temporary diagnostic step)

    • Menu > Preferences > Security (Enhanced)
    • Disable Protected Mode at startup
    • Restart Acrobat

Please note that Windows Insider/preview builds are not fully supported environments, and performance regressions may occur even on high‑end systems. See this article for more details: https://helpx.adobe.com/reader/system-requirements.html

I hope this helps, and let us know how it goes, and share your findings.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.
