will be getting a computer just for the Adobe pro. what type operating system and memory should I have installed on the computer.

This is somewhat of an open question. And since there is no such product as Adobe Pro, we assume you mean Adobe Acrobat Pro.

What type of computer do you have or are getting? Macintosh, PC?

If you are running on a Macintosh, you obviously use MacOS and you should use the latest version that your hardware supports. If you are running on a PC, if you are getting a new system, you obviously should be running the latest version of Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit.

In terms of memory, it is literally ridiculous given current memory prices to buy any computer with less than 8GB of memory.

The official configuration requirements for Acrobat can be found at Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Acrobat Standard DC system requirements​ but be aware that these are overly conservative and that the stated memory is for the Acrobat software itself when running!

And I should mention - there are other things with Adobe and Pro in the name. Premiere Pro for example, for video editing, which needs a VERY big and powerful computer.
